General

  • DuraStair™ products are exclusive to Lowe’s Canada, RONA, RONA+ and Reno Depot stores.

  • Yes, click on our PRODUCTS tab to review all available colours.

    Special Order colour products may be ordered at your local Lowe’s Canada, RONA, RONA+ and Reno Depot stores.

  • Yes, click on the SHOP tab to order accessories and spare parts.

  • Corner (triangular) stair treads are not available, our standard stair treads can be used. View our CORNER STAIR INSTALLATION GUIDE section (detailed instructions are provided) to learn how to refinish your corner steps with DuraStair products.

  • DuraStair is designed to cover stair treads up to 48 inches only. An additional section of stair tread and riser is needed for extra-wide open stairs.

  • We recommend waiting a maximum of 24 hours. 

Technical

  • Yes, 100%. Simply wipe up any spills with an absorbent cloth.

  • DuraStair™ stair treads have a heavy-duty 12 mil commercial wear layer

    DuraStair™ products are finished with a DurAlOx® Diamond UV cured polyurethane finish for enhanced scratch and wear resistance.

  • Yes.

  • No. All DuraStair™ products are 100% formaldehyde-free and meet and exceed the health and safety standards for Canada, USA & Europe.

  • FloorScore® & Carb-2.

Installation

  • DuraStair products are designed for indoor installation only.

  • Yes, DuraStair™ products are unaffected by low temperatures.

  • Yes, DuraStair™ products are designed for both the renovation of old stairs, as well as for new construction.

  • Yes, they are approved for installation in residential, as well as in commercial and office applications.

  • No nails are required.

    Use one of the recommended construction adhesives and follow all installation guidelines and requirements.

  • The best type of saw to use is a mitre saw with a sharp new “finishing” (60 to 80 teeth) blade.

  • Yes, our installation guide has a section that specifically covers each type of stairway.

  • You can use our DuraStair landing bullnose to coordinate and fit with DuraClic with DuraStair.

  • In order cover thicker steps, you will need to cut off the existing bullnose and add (screw/nail and glue) a small strip of wood (1” x 3/8”) to your stair tread to recreate the ideal sized overhang, which will serve as a support point. You can then install the DuraStair stair tread.

  • The following adhesives provide the best bond and results. 

    ·         Lepages® NO MORE NAILS-WET GRAB adhesive (available at RONA)

    ·         Loctite® POWER GRAB ULTIMATE adhesive 

  • Each tube will allow you to install between 2 to 3 complete steps.  Apply the adhesive generously for maximum bond.

Care & Maintenance

  • Yes, scratches can be minimized by one of the following methods:

    Minor scratches:
    Apply a drop or two of vegetable oil to the scratch and rub it into the scratch, remove all excess oil with a tissue.

    More serious scratches:
    Can be touched up using a clear-coat touchup pen; they are sold by:

  • Use a “hardwood or vinyl floor cleaner” such as BONA® or SWIFFER® brand or similar “non-surfactant type product cleaner.

    Avoid using other types of product cleaning products, as they may leave a residual film on the product that will leave a dull finish.
